June 17, 2016We were lucky to have Steven, a Fort Lauderdale local, aboard the Good Hit today. Oddly enough, Steven and his friends don’t fish off their own hometown coast often. Little did they know; we were going to change that aspect of their lives forever!
There were rumors that the mutton snapper were biting as well as the bonitas, so we headed out with high hopes. We started trolling in 100 feet of water, fishing with bonita strips and clark spoons on planner boards. The action was fierce! We caught king mackeral, bonitas, and blackfin tunas, faster than we could put the bait in the water!
We then decided to drop the anchor and try for mutton snapper. Steven and his friend wanted some good fish for eating; the Blackfin tunas were on the smaller side and we wanted to try something different. Well what do you know, as soon as the anchor caught the bottom and the first bait was in the water, and BOOM. The mutton bite was ON! After catching the legal snapper limit, we pointed the boat toward the dock back to dry land. Another successful trip aboard South Florida’s #1 Charter Boat the Good Hit!
