September 18, 2016Tarpon Trip
Today we took Raj and his wife from Michigan, who have been tarpon fishing on 5 differ boats with no success. First off, Sunday afternoons are very difficult to fish the intercostal. Usually in Fort Lauderdale we have lots of boat traffic on a Sunday afternoon. So hooking up could be difficult, let alone hard to land a fish. We started trolling live bait, just inside the port, using live pilchards and treadfin herring. Right off the bat we hooked and caught a tarpon on a live hearing.
Fish # 1
We also got a great hit of the fish as you can see here. Not long after we caught a second tarpon on a live pilchard. The seconds fish Raj decided to boat, measure and release. He expected this day to turn out like the rest with zero tarpon. So today was a huge relief, with a happy couple aboard the Good Hit. South Floridas Number One Charter Boat!
