The Mahi fishing gets even better, the bigger schools of fish invade the 2nd and 1st reef. Feeding on live ballyhoo In 25-50′ of water. A few diffent occasions we found the fish in shallow water showering ballyhoo.

This is a light tackle fisherman’s dream, casting live ballyhoo on light tackle at the fish you see. We like to call this sight fishing, or casting at tailers. A few days during this month we outfished the entire fleet, fishing live bait in extremely shallow water.

In flat calm conditions live ballyhoo fishing can be deadly. Other catches with these tactics would be Sailfish, Black fin Tuna, and Kingfish, which all enjoy feasting on live ballyhoo in the fall. We had a few multiple fish days October- December. A few schools of MAhia were upwards of 20lbs, moving extremely fast and feasting on anything in their path.

This month the Good Hit crew decried to fish a Bimini Wahoo Tournament, fishing the 62′ Viking the Bookends. We caught a few good fish on day one biggest one weighing in at 31lbs. On day 2 we caught a 42 lbs which was good enough for a first place daily.

We didn’t even think our fish qualified for that day, but we were greatly surprised. We had a blast with crew and enjoyed the commrandery. Bimini is a special place for the Good Hit crew, our boat has been to the Bahamas over 100 different occasions and is a place we can call home.

Do not be afraid to ask about Bahama trips, we own a house and a golf cart on the island.
August and September are the best months for fishing in the Caribbean, with the best sea conditions.
