Novemeber 2017
March 17, 2018January 2018
June 23, 2018We started December off with some bottom fishing, most of the other charter boats have not hit any wrecks in the past 2 months. Having Live speedos and Pin fish is key for the deep wrecks over 180 ft deep. For the shallower wrecks in 90ft- 150ft, we prefer live Pilchards and Thread Fin Herring. In December we caught a mix of exotic bottom fish, Red Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Amberjack, and Grouper. Here are a few photos from our bottom fishing trips.
Besides the bottom fishing, we continue to pull live Ballyhoo around on Light Tackle Spinning Gear . This tactic remains deadly for Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Blackfin Tuna. December is the best month of year to catch a Sailfish on Light Tackle.
The Best Weather conditions for Ballyhoo fishing is calm to a light chop. Wind can be a major obstacle while pulling live Hoos around. If the Wind picks above 9 kts, I prefer to Kitefish with Thread Fin Herring. Catching the Large scale bait remains difficult. Keeping them alive is another story, but obtaining these baits is a must. Here is a picture of these Beauttiful Specimens in our live well.
