On this trip we had Kareem and his family, we left Bahia Mar around 8:15 am. Our group was a few minutes late due to traffic in the local area. We talked about what the group wanted to catch on the trip and they quickly mentioned eating fish. We had slow fishing the day before, so we gave trolling a shot. We were using pink and green sea witches on 6 and 8 planner boards. We decided to get away from the fleet and ran 4 miles south to an area with no boats. We were immediately Hooked Up to a double bite in 125′ of water and quickly landed both fish. One of the fish took the top shot of line off of the short planner reel. After catching our first two fish we, decided to work the area and try to acquire our King Mackerel limit. We slowly picked at the Kingfish catching the fish from 5-15lb range. Perfect sized fish for our first time anglers aboard the Good Hit. We wore out the first two anglers and had to request for dad to reel in a few.

We caught our limit by 10:30 am and decided to head to the dock early, fish hold was full of fish and everybody had heir fill. We were back early and then awaited our afternoon trip.

December 29th 2016 PM

Our afternoon trip was from Columbus Ohio, and had little to no Saltwater fishing experience. They decided to go fishing out of the blue and gathered the trip together on a whim. So we left Fort Lauderdale Beach at 11:30 am, in search of more action! Due to the holidays, the waterways were loaded with weekend warriors and getting to the fishing grounds was quite the task. We started fishing just South of inlet in 65’ of water, eager to get a few bites we put the spread out fast.

We aimed the boat South to clear away from the Holiday traffic. Starting off slow with only a couple of King Mackerel bites, we decide to look for something different and go offshore. We started fishing in 300-400’ of water looking for Blackfin Tuna and Mahi Mahi. Fishing a Planner board with a rigged ballyhoo. Within 10 minutes we Hooked Up to a Black Fin Tuna. Catching 3 Black fins for dinner, we decided to go for a Game Shark. We had Big Game Tackle aboard the Good Hit and went for the Hail Mary. So we Soaked a fresh King Mackerel head on the bottom in 350’ of water and a King Mackerel Tail on the surface. We were using Tigara 80 wide Reels with 150lb braided line, our leader material is 400lb test. We fished for one and half hours and never had a bite. I guess you cant win them all, still a good trip in my books.
