What’s Biting December 2021
December 22, 2021Big Game March
May 17, 2023Spring is an amazing time to fish Fort Lauderdale, we have calmer conditions than winter and there are various species of fish to target, not to mention way more sunshine.
Being born and raised in Fort Lauderdale as fishermen we count on the seasonal change for different species of fish. In Spring we will catch Sailfish mixed with Tuna, Kingfish, Mahi, and Sharks. Not knowing exactly which fish will bite the hook next is an amazing feeling. People ask me what fish are biting in May and I tend to chuckle, because it’s hard to tell what’s going to hit the line next and boy is it exciting! We like to kite fish in May as we find that’s the most productive style of fishing in the Spring. Bait of course is going to be goggle eyes and sardines; with these two in spring it’s hard to not get a bite. We enjoy using all light tackle on The Good Hit fleet and some of these fish will take you for a ride.
We suggest the 6 hour trips in the morning or afternoon for the best success rate. One of our favorite fish to target is Black-fin Tuna and we only catch the big ones in spring. They tend to bite early in the morning and later in the afternoon (Captain’s Note: I personally like the late afternoon, other captains might say otherwise.) We haven’t got our Mahi Mahi gear out yet but we are starting to get ready. We get groups that ask if it’s time to head offshore and start the hunt for the Mahi so here’s the answer: we like to wait until the middle of June to target Mahi.
We are proud to offer 3 different boats to suit your fishing needs! The Good Hit, The Big Boat, and The Good Hit 3.0 are waiting to get you on the fish! These boats have just been tricked out with the best motors, equipment, tackle, and sonar money can buy. Every one of these boats have their own character so don’t forget to check them all out before making a final selection.
