Big Game March
May 17, 2023Best Month to Target Blackfin Tuna
June 6, 2023April is peak spring season for so Flo fishing targeting sailfish, mahi, Coba, wahoo, and kingfish. Oh my.
Our typical styles month our tactics include live bait, light tackle, kite fishing, deep drop, trolling, flatline, drifting. Whatever is the most productive we stick with.
Live bait is very effective in April; the bait of choice is google eye, herring, and cigar minnow. Good bait for this time of year is a significant key to success in Fishing South Florida in Spring. During Kite fishing in April, we hooked a few kings that were over 40 lbs; being these fish laugh, a kite bait into the air is something spectacle. Bringing these fish over the side of the boat can be a struggle, having huge fights boat side.
Wahoo, and Mahi are not far off on this month, all fishing in the same general area. These beauties can be caught kite fishing or trolling. These two fish were caught trolling on April 7th with Captain Ransom.
Don’t forget to drop a line to the Botton in April; sometimes, on a blue moon, a line on the bottom can lead to a trip to success. BOOM, on a slower day, April 3rd, we couldn’t get a bite, having a long shot of an idea to send a line to the bottom. We hooked into this 39lb Cobia, one of the top Cobia caught on Good Hit for 2023. What an awesome catch, Captain Ransom.
Captain Adam had a day on April 9th in the morning half, hooking a 50.50lb King Fish; the customers didn’t believe it was a mackerel at first. It was so big in the water; one customer swore it was a shark. What a monster, another Good Hit for April Fishing.
On April 15th, 2023, Captain Pete, the killer, caught a 35lb Cobia on a local shipwreck. I can’t say the exact spot, but what a monster.
April 22nd, Mike and his first mate decided to catch some fresh Google eyes, having to go out at night. We loaded up on some fresh bait. Google eyes have huge eyes and usually feed nocturnally, the bite usually happens from 9 pm-3 am and is a tough job, but someone has to do it. Here is a live video of the catch.
April 24th-28th, Good Hit goes to Bimini for its annual fishing trip. We are getting into Bimini around 8 am April 24th and checking into customs and immigration. After checking in and unloading our bags, we decide to go fishing. We are deep-dropping, targeting groupers, queens, and other bottom creatures. Deep draping is my personal favorite fishing in the Bahamas. You never know what you are going to catch.
