The Conch Conquest: 11-Sailfish Strike off Fort Lauderdale
March 5, 2026
Late March to April Fishing Report
March 31, 2026If you wanted to see what our 2026 Conch 330 is truly capable of, this mid-March Bahamas run was the ultimate litmus test. We didn’t just cross the stream; we pushed nearly to the Abacos, put on a clinic, and were back at the dock in time for dinner.
The Tally: 18 Yellowfin and Wahoo Heat
The yellowfin bite was wide open. We ended the day with 18 total tuna in the hold, with most of the action coming from high speed trolling and run and gun style chasing of bird schools.
While the tuna were the stars of the show, the late season Wahoo decided to join the party as well. We put several “stripes” in the box, adding some serious weight to an already heavy cooler. March in the Bahamas is all about variety, and this trip delivered exactly that.
Speed Meets the Stream
The real story of this trip was the distance covered. Almost reaching the Abacos from Fort Lauderdale is a serious haul, but the Conch 330 was built for exactly this kind of “strike mission.”
Triple V8 300hp Power: With 900 horsepower on the transom, we were able to maintain a blistering cruise speed even when the sea state got “sporty” in the Northwest Providence Channel.
Zero Wasted Time: Because this boat planes instantly and eats chop for breakfast, we spent less time staring at the horizon and more time looking at the sonar.
Fuel and Range: Even with a heavy load of ice, 18 tuna, and a full crew, the Conch’s efficiency meant we didn’t have to play it safe. We had the range to go where the fish were, not just where the fuel dock was.
Back by Sunset
There is a unique kind of satisfaction in catching nearly 20 tuna in a different country and still being back at the marina to clean fish while the sun is still up. That is the Good Hit advantage: the fastest fleet in the inlet paired with the local knowledge to find the schools.
The yellowfin are here and the “bite is on.” If you have ever wanted to experience a true Bahamas crossing without the fatigue of a slow boat, now is the time to get on the calendar.
