Late March to April Fishing Report
March 31, 2026It has been an incredible stretch of fishing here in Fort Lauderdale. The offshore conditions have been ideal, leading to some of the most exciting catches we have seen all season. From heavy hitters in the stream to a rare encounter that made national headlines, here is the breakdown of our recent trips.
Trip 1: Massive Dolphin on the Drift
On our first featured outing, we pushed offshore in search of pelagic action and struck gold. We found a productive edge with heavy weed lines that were holding a significant amount of bait. It did not take long for the spreads to get crashed by several massive Bull Dolphin.
These Mahi-Mahi were true trophies, providing high-energy fights and spectacular leaps. Our anglers did a fantastic job managing multiple hookups at once, resulting in a cooler full of quality fish and some great memories on the deck. The size of these fish indicates a strong push of larger migratory Mahi moving through our waters right now.
Trip 2: A Historic Great White Encounter
Our second report covers a day that will go down in the history books for Good Hit Sport Fishing. We had the pleasure of hosting 12-year-old Noah VanAmeyden and his family from West Michigan. What started as a standard charter turned into a once-in-a-lifetime event when Noah hooked into a massive predator that tested his strength and resolve.
After a long battle, the crew and passengers were stunned to identify the catch as a Great White Shark. Encountering a Great White off the coast of Fort Lauderdale is an extremely rare occurrence, and seeing a young angler like Noah handle the fight with such composure was a privilege for our crew.
